Customisation of 500 lockers for 20 changing rooms in a benchmark installation in the world of football
The new Atlético de Madrid "Sports City" is one of the most avant-garde professional football facilities in Europe and has become a pillar of the club's internationalisation strategy. In addition, it is home to the club Academy, the women's and junior teams and the training ground for the first team. In total, 70,000 square meters, a stadium for 2,500 people, training pitches, meeting rooms, classrooms, teachers' rooms, offices and a cafeteria.
For this project, Cucalón followed the guidelines from Ferrovial Agroman to manufacture and customise all the equipment for the centre: lockers, benches, coat racks, cabins, dividers and panelling for the walls. In total, 20 changing rooms and services were built with 500 lockers with the corporate colour identifier: "Atlético de Madrid red". The company was also in charge of executing the dividers between common spaces and all the panelling was done with phenolic compact.
Sustainable
All materials used had the PEFC seal, ensuring that they came from responsible forests. In addition, all the furniture was sent in kit format and only one trailer was used for transport instead of the conventional 4, reducing the carbon footprint to a minimum. Assembly took place on site.
Creative
The project was characterized by the use of a single corporate colour - Atlético de Madrid red - which was customised by an Italian manufacturer. Special lockers for the main changing rooms were also defined and manufactured. The lockers for the senior teams were customised in a premium format. Lastly, multi-user digital locks were used for the lockers for the junior teams, meaning there could be several users per locker.
