Installation of a CCTV system and ticketing for a cable car with 180,000 daily users
EETC – "Mi Teleférico" constitutes the longest collective air cable transport system in the world, linking different parts of the cities of La Paz and El Alto, and receiving 180,000 passengers a day. The objective of the project was to ensure the safety of users and allow centralized management through the integration of different subsystems (CCTV, ticketing, fire prevention, intrusion and storm prediction).
Together with engineering firm Doppelmayr, Scati Labs effected the installation of a CCTV system in 36 stations, in the cabins and in the towers of its eleven lines. In total, more than 1,800 smart cameras offering great image quality are managed and there is a centralised audio and video recording capacity.

This ambitious security project is managed by 22 operators from a Control and Monitoring Centre. From here, the entire cable transport infrastructure is monitored and real-time alerts are received for subsequent visual verification. Three areas (Operations, Complementary Systems and Police) work together to ensure the safety of users and the Cable Car's own systems, using videowalls comprising 24 x 55" professional monitors.
